TURUNGAN CAVE
Itbayat's Turungan Cave. The most ancient dwelling place and on top is a burial ground, and believed to be the first landing place of the austronecians from Taiwan 2000 BC.
I am from Itbayat, for some reasons i wasn't able to visit this place for such a long time. Maybe it was the location that's keeping me off. It's april, summer in itbayat, high humidity but it didn't kept us from going so we took off, it took us 3 hours to travel on foot from town proper, longer than expected. We have to re-hydrate and take breaks from time to time.
We arrived at 3pm, we didn't felt like resting as we are busy taking pictures of the place. From top, you can barely see what's on the ground so we climb down. At the bottom you can see the ancient shelter, stone walls and different types of magnificent rock formations, from top are stalactites and from the ground are stalagmites. Many locals and tourists came here and capture the same image. This is the famous feature of the cave.
